Sometimes I make myself sick to my stomach. It's disgusting how many of my thoughts are nothing more than insufficient rationalizations. What is wrong with me.

24 hours. 8 pages. Everything I write sucks. I just want to give up and go to sleep. There aren't enough ways to procrastinate. Why can't I just DO THIS?

Christ on a cracker.

I'm being a bad student, a bad sister, a bad friend... Is there anything I'm actually doing right, right now?

There's so much stuff to do and I have no motivation to do any of it. For some reason, I'm content with sitting in my pajamas and watching TV on my computer, even though half my time is spent staring at a buffering screen. Eff Netflix for not having Season 3 of 30 Rock available. (I know it's on Hulu, but I want to watch from the beginning).

An excerpt from one of my sociology readings:

"If all clocks and watches in Berlin would suddenly go wrong in different ways, even if only by one hour, all economic life and communication of the city would be disrupted for a long time."

BEHOLD, THE POWER OF THE WATCHMAN!

talk to me now i'm older [Saturday

DAY ONE

So I figure it's important to keep up with the ol' LJ, especially now. AND I EXPECT NOTHING LESS FROM ALL YOU COLLEGIATE FOLK.

Today I started my pilgrimage to Williamstown. I had to say goodbye to Savannah, which was really sad. She's so quiet and spends the whole day in her room drawing and doesn't really care about school... I just hope middle school works out for her. I mean, I plan to e-mail and everything and, who knows - maybe being apart will actually make us closer, seeing as how little we talked over summer and during school years past.

Driving wasn't as bad as I had expected. Since I freaked and bought a lot of stuff I could have probably bought up at school, the car was absolutely packed - you can't see out the rearview mirror at all, and when I ride in the back I have to sit cross-legged because there's stuff on the floor. Don't ask me how I managed to bring so much stuff. So far my dad has done the bulk of the driving; I did 200 miles and my mom did nothing (which I guess is okay because she would have a massive panic attack not being about to see out the back). It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, except for the fact that my dad installed this GPS system that can somehow tell how fast the car is going and goes "CAUTION!" every time you start speeding. It took me a while before I figured out how to put it on silent. After we switched drivers, my dad was like "wow, I didn't realize you had driven 200 miles! It didn't seem like that long!" and I was just like.... yeeeesss.... exxceeellleennttt.... [cue devious laughter].

We got to our hotel around 7:30. I have the cheapest parents ever; they booked a room at the ritzy Econolodge because - if it wasn't already CHEAP ENOUGH - they got a discount because of AAA. There were a lot of sketchy people on the loose, so I moved the majority of my stuff from the car to the hotel room, which (I hope to dear God) is safer. There's only one bed, but a huge king-size, and the bathtub is so massive it looks like it could fit two or three people. Which makes me feel even BETTER about my current lodging. I'm a little worried about how much ejaculate is probably lying around on all surfaces, but luckily I have my pillow and comforter, so I don't have to use or touch too many hotel-issued supplies.

Tomorrow is another all-driving day, blazin' the trail. I finished my book (Dark Knight Returns), so maybe I'll try to FINALLY finish Thank You For Smoking (I've been reading that book all friggin' summer - it was interrupted by Twilight).

I am very excited but very nervous. I think I will feel better once I get into my dorm and start making it home. Maybe put up some things from my memory box. I am so afraid of white walls! I need STUFF to cover them up. I brought my french Lord of the Rings poster, but my parents looked at me weird when I wanted to bring my plastic ninja sword, so sadly that stayed behind...

I miss everyone so much, and I want to hear about everyone's college experiences! Please keep in touch!
