music: As I Lay Dying - An Ocean Between Us

Well Christmas break is over and I'm back in school for 1 final semester. I love the Christmastide, which by my rules (and Wikipedia's) ended yesterday (epiphany). The 12th day of Christmas is January 6th. Look it up! I'm always bummed in early January when I can't listen to Christmas music anymore but I know next Christmas will be here shortly. Anyways, 10 weeks to the date and I will be done with college! I originally wanted to prepare my resume during Christmas break and maybe even start the job search but ended up getting bad chest pains. At that point I figured screw it. This is my last break with limited responsibility. So I did nothing, and loved it! And now it's time for some academia. I sure hope I learn everything there is to know in 10 weeks because right now I really don't know/remember anything, and I'm getting a 3.6! I wish I was kidding but I'm not. Well, I know a little bit.

Aw that's cute. I was reading my most recent entry from last fall on the election. Now that I am a little more educated on economics and public finance, I know that increasing tax rates doesn't necessarily increase tax revenue. In some cases, lowering tax rates increases total revenue. I was also naive in thinking that promises made during elections are actually relevant to the future. I was certainly right about the national debt going up but nobody seems concerned about the debt. Most people pay attention to the budget deficit, which has also been going up and is linked with the national debt. I still don't fully understand public finance but I definitely want to learn more and more about it. It's fascinating stuff. I noticed my school has a 500 level course entirely on Public Finance. Hey maybe... although I shouldn't get too ahead of myself here. I need to finish my 5-year plan.

Am I the only one who doesn't like facebook? It's too busy. Elaborate. Tacky. Flashy. Confusing. Poke. Farmville. Invitation. I still don't get the appeal of posting on every little thing you do or think about during the day. Oooo look at me everyone, I took a shit today and now I'm gonna whipe my ass at 4:03 PM. Nobody cares. I probably sound like an old man who is confused and scared of current trends but it's just not my style. Social networking may've been my style in '05 but not '09. I only go on to see what Matt Friedel is up to because he is very cool. I wish I was as cool as him.

Political science from a social conservative and closet fan of big government

We've got less than one week before the election and I FINALLY FIGURED OUT who I'm voting for. The bottom line is, I don't think Obama is going to bring in enough tax revenue. I can't believe I'm saying this but a democrat is actually not taxing enough. According to Barack Obama's own website, his revenues will be less than 18.2% of GDP, which is less overall taxing then what prevailed under Ronald Reagan. Plus, Obama has a LOT of spending in line. So basically he will either have to cut a lot of spending or borrow. I REALLY don't think he'll be able to cut spending and if he borrows our nation goes more in debt. Our nation does not need any more debt.

McCain on the other hand, looks to be bringing in the same amount of tax revenue. He doesn't have as much spending in line and he wants a spending freeze right off the bat. So there you go. McCain's got my vote. Part of me still wants to vote Obama because I think it would be really cool to see history happen (1st black president). Of course I always thought our nation's 1st black president would be Carlton Banks, but he's not a real person...

My prediction is this: If Obama gets in, our national and foreign debt will go up. If McCain gets in, it will stay about the same or maybe even decrase.

Mark my words.

(I hope I'm wrong for our nation's sake because Obama is going to win)

Warped Report

Jul. 19th, 2008 | 01:01 pm
music: Sho Baraka - 100 (surprisingly-a non warped tour artist)

Wheww what a long day friday. It all started at 12:01 with Dark Knight. It was a great movie, I don't consider myself a huge Batman fan but I really enjoyed it, and really who wouldn't? Then I took what I'll call a quick nap and then went to a little something known as Vans Warped Tour. I was glad I got to go this year since I missed it the past couple years. So basically we got to see, in chronological order: Horrorpops, Relient K, Norma Jean, Everytime I Die, Say Anything, Angels & Airwaves, Reel Big Fish, Story of The Year, Maylene, Family Force 5, Jack's Mannequin and As I Lay Dying. For the first time ever: we pretty much stayed until the very end. As I Lay Dying played at 8:15 and we stayed for most of their set. I'd say Family Force 5 was the best of the day, probably followed by ETID. Angels & Airwaves and As I Lay Dying probably had the biggest crowds and Tom DeLonge makes the most money.

Done. booyah. I DID it. I did IT. I passed ACC 1090 and MATH 1340. Can you believe that? When I say passed I mean passed. When I say passed I mean piz-assed. When I say piz-assed I mean a ligitemate transferable grade. When I say a ligitemate transferable grade, I mean anything above a C-. So you do the math, I don't have to take them over. Now I really just have a week and a half off because my summer classes start 5/19. This starts the week/week and a half period when you have a HUGE LIST of what you want to get done and you know you probably won't do any of it except for maybe catching up on sleep. Man how good does it feel to see the defending champs of the NBA down 2-0. Hopefully they'll choke tonight. And The Office is back for the 4th week, so I guess everythings coming up Andrew.

Rest In Peace Apollo Creed
