So obviously I'm horrible with updating my journal. In my defense, however, there have been issues, both personal and school wise, that have needed tending to. Tonight was supposed to be spent either doing some readings for class or working on some stories that have been floating around in my head for the past little while. Unfortunately, neither was even attempted. Instead, I've been spending my time re-watching footage of a shirtless Andy Roddick training, listening to music, downloading more things onto my computer (evidently I have a death wish for my laptop), and re-reading Brokeback Mountain (then crying like the complete girl I am). Everyone I know is out getting drunk tonight so there is nobody to save me from myself (or save my laptop from me).
So here is my weekly grievance with living in a small town: inexplicable, but ever present, bad timing. Every year, I pick one movie that I make it a point to see. This year's was Brokeback Mountain. I've been desperate to see this film. My only hope was the local film society which had seemed prone to bringing in movies like this...sure enough, this week I found out that they are. So what's the downside? well, since someone up there obviously has something against me, Brokeback Mountain is coming in March. Ordinarily, all I'd have to complain about is the fact that that is a really long time away, but this time there are special circumstances. The very night that they're choosing to play it on is the same one that I leave to go to another city for a concert. By the time the film starts, I'll be hours away in an airplane. Of course. Does anyone know the official DVD release date? (if it's even been announced), or where to download it? and for anyone reading this who's seen it, care to rave about it? Was it amazing? Did you cry? I'm kind of worried because I've never had expectations this high for any film and I think I may be setting myself up for at least some degree of disappointment.
Anyway, I feel some small sense of accomplishment for having posted something(no matter how insubstantial). Now it's off to hear the reactions of one of my guy friends who is currently reading Brokeback Mountain, after much coercing from me, then to make sure nobody has gotten themselves alcohol poisoning, and then to bed. Here's hoping the drunk guy next door doesn't start to play his rap at 4 in the morning. Again.
So here it is, my first ever official post in my very own LJ. Nifty. You'll notice that I've been using this space as a testing site for some fanfiction the past few days, and if you've stumbled on here by accident, please feel free to comment on them! I love feedback. I've decided to make it permanent by decorating the place up a little, though. I think I'm going to like it here.
So I'm heading into my last day as a free girl; well, as free as a girl studying for an exam can be, anyway. I've been home for a few weeks (and feeling rather creative, if I do say so myself) but it's back to Uni on Tuesday where I plan to get hopelessly lost while trying to figure out photoshop so that I can at least attempt to make a few of my own icons. I'm sure some actual work will have to get done at some point, but right now I'm officially ready for a vacation from my vacation. :-)
One last note before I go to bed at this ridiculously (for me) early hour...
I don't know how many people are still reading this (or how many were reading it in the first place). I'll take my chances anyway. I hope she doesn't mind me doing this, but the lovely nastasie, who was my first reviewer ever, has created the Church of the Russian SEXGOD (dedicated to the fantastic and, as the title implies, sexy Marat Safin) and I'd like to pimp it here.
This is me. Pimping.

I hope I didn't steal her thunder or offend her by doing that.
Title: What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?
Pairing: Andy Roddick/Roger Federer (I’m thinking this is going to be the standard for me, folks)
Summary: This isn't his scene.
Notes: This comes as a result of having absolutely nothing to do on New Year’s Eve. I had opted to stay in, don pyjamas, surround myself with junk food, and hide from the upcoming semester of University for the night when I decided, around 11 pm, “hey! Let’s write something!” You guys are probably getting tired of the Roddick/Federer pairing from me, I’m sure, but I think it’s going to be awhile before I can think of taking on the challenge of another couple. I’m not through with this one yet. This one is probably not as detailed as my previous efforts, though, but I think that 3 fics in the span of about a week can officially be considered a “roll” for me. I had every intention of posting this last night but, as usual, life got in the way. I’m sure this one is full of mistakes because I’m posting it as I run out the door on my way to dinner.
Disclaimer: Title comes from the song that, as far as I know, was first performed by a band called The Orioles in 1948 (someone correct me if I’m wrong). Inspiration, however, comes from the more recent Rufus Wainwright version of the same song. As always, no harm or infringment is intended by this. I’m just having some fun on an otherwise boring New Years.

Title: Soft Focus
Pairing: Roger Federer/Andy Roddick
Summary: This is the version that only Andy sees, and you love him for being able to see it.
Notes: I’m a bit late with this. Again. This time I blame it on my team drawing with another team they should have beaten easily, allowing Chelsea to continue on their merry old way and thus causing me to mope. A lot. Football woes aside, I bring you another first for me. Smut. I had originally intended for it to be, well, PWP, but it turned into this. A sentence popped into my head and before I knew what was happening, I had been scribbling away for two hours on little pieces of paper in the dark. I hope you all enjoy the results of fic gone wild. Just like before – unbetaed, so all mistakes (I’m sure there are many) are mine.
Disclaimer: I want, therefore I am a fangirl. I don’t own, therefore I remain a fangirl.

Title: Every December 25th.
Pairing: Andy Roddick/Roger Federer
Summary: Andy’s never surprised on Christmas morning.
Notes: I’ve got a longer piece in the works and I thought I’d post this one first as a practice run. It’s silly, probably full of factual errors about Andy’s family, and unbetaed (so probably full of mechanical errors, as well). I’m new to both the fandom and the sport (soccer lover, first and foremost), can’t come up creative titles to save my life, and also a tiny bit late in posting this, considering the content. Hope you all enjoy it anyway and that it holds us over until some of the really good stuff can be written.
( Everyone, Andy assumes, has a crazy relativeCollapse )
